Hi i want to move to Uruguay I'm retired and have about 12 thousand US $ a year to work with. reading the posts are frustrating I don't live a fancy lifestyle here don't want one there. So my question is can I find a simple rental there near a beach without to much trouble? I am also a Piano player Jazz & Blues I would like to play some music there. Do you see any Pianos in the bars or Hotels? I would also like to find a car I don't want anything close to a new one just an old beater would be fine what would I expect to pay for one like that? I'm pretty much a guy who likes a simple life growing food and cooking any info would be helpful. Thanks dave

What area are you looking for?

In Montevideo and other areas places near the beach are easy. Notice I didn't say cheap, because I have no idea what you think is cheap. 18.000 pesos can get you a furnished, 2 br room 80 meter apartment within 2 blocks of the beach in Pocitos. (But the rental deposit will be 5 times that).

If you plan to live in Montevideo, keep the simple life and skip the car.

well probably want to live somewhere an hour from the city, small place is all I want unfurnished, so is this poss for 3-400 US? do all the places want huge deposits?
