| "Good Agent"
Tom, My wife and I spent some time in Colonia this past month looking at real estate. We inquired to a lot of the agencies there but no one replied however we found a wonderful person in Montevideo who was able to contact the agencies in Colonia and set up appts for us with them. I would strongly recommend her. Her name is Alicia and her email is abrianocros@gmail.com. Her english is pretty good and if you mention our name she will definitely remember us as we were only there few weeks ago. Hope this helps... |
| "inquired"
What method did you make the inquires? I've found that it is difficult to do business online until you have established a connection.Ie: if you've never done business with someone emails are often ignored.... Expert Page: Quick Tips for Getting Settled in Uruguay |

We aren't exactly cutting edge when it comes to doing things on line in Colonia. Last month the on-line booking I made with Seacat went astray but the 5 emails I sent them remained unanswered. I finally had to phone them :-)Property websites can be misleading as can inmobilarios so I'd strongly advise you to come in person, stay a while and look around for yourself. There seems to be plenty for sale. |
| "How we found an agent"
Well first i found the site that had the best reputation for real estate which is buscandoc.asa I then sent an inquiry requesting that i needed help finding properties. I had about 10 agents email me, I weeded them out and found two that i went with both were great. This site does not have a lot of properties in colonia but the agent in Montevideo hooked that up for us. It took a lot of work weeks and weeks of organizing and a little bit of trust on our part but it worked out. The one that helped us in Colonia is the email i attached and she was a kind caring and knowledable person who not only helped us find properties but told us about the country as well. I recommend her because i would hate to have someone go through all the trouble i did to find someone and even then its a crap shoot. |
| "Talk to Rodolfo at Caldeyro and tell him that I sent you."
The whole office is great!! I am thinking of working with them once I get there full time. I have my license now in Florida (as does everyone else)., His father in law is great as well. I know exactly how it can be dealing with agents, but Rodolfo got us an awesome deal on 5 hectares in punta. He will actually work the deal rather than say " oh this is a very important place so the price is ...... He will honestly tell you what you should offer. and WORK the deal. Here is the link to his site- I forgot his father-in law's name, but speak to him if Rodolfo is unavailable. He is on skye as well. Good luck and let me know how you fair. |
| "Agent info"
Her name is Alicia and her email is abrianocros@gmail.com.. Also if you want properties in Montevideo or punta del este our agent there was Mariano info@lepropiedades.com. I will put the website where I found them in the links. Once again they don't have a lot of props in Colonia on the site but the agents have contacts and will set up props in Colonia for u. |
| "agent info."
I am leaving tonight and will be in punta tomorrow am till the 23rd. Rodolfo's email is victorica@caldeyro.com . He has an office in Montevideo in the carrasco neighborhood, but he showed us stuff all along the coast up to rocha as well as HUGE campos in the interior. He has all the agri info as well on the properties in case you want to raise cattle, farm etc. |
| "links"
The link is showing now on #6. The main reasons why a link might not show is: 1) you didn't use http:// [that is required because of the large amount of nonsense spammers post in the fields]. 2) Sometimes the URL hits a blocked phrased and will show after someone has reviewed it [as in this case].I find Buscasando casa most helpful to get a general feel of the market and not for actual listings... I've found that sometimes [at least with the rentals] the listings aren't removed very promptly after a place is rented. Also, the real estate agents have to pay to list a property there, is it is probably the best place to find property on the low end of the market. But it is one of the most comprehensive and better organized sites. Expert Page: Quick Tips for Getting Settled in Uruguay |
