Sugarloaf ocean and spa uruguay condos for sale

Thank author of this post/commentInternational Living sent me an email and they had an offer for interest free financing for the Sugarloaf development. Does anyone have some information on the project?

Also is Sugarloaf on the Ocean or the Rio de la Plata?

Thank author of this post/comment"Sugarloaf Development"

Hi Jim,

Like many others here I would take every word in International Living with a pinch of salt, they often take the liberty of editing, omitting and elaborating to such an extent that they are creating dream countries rather than talking about the real thing.

As for the Sugarloaf development, as far as I am aware it is being run byt Juan Federico Fischer of Fischer and Schikendantz Attorneys, if you google their firm's name you'll find their website and you can get in contact with them via email. Juan speaks fluent English, as do many others at the firm.

Here is the website about the Sugarloaf Project. It says it is 20mins west of Punta del Este, and appears to be inland from Piriapolis meaning technically its still on the river. Past Punta del Este is where the ocean really starts but around Punta del Este looks just like ocean, not like the brown river of Montevideo.

Thank author of this post/comment"River - Ocean - Stuary - Delta."

Let's put some light on this strange thing called the Rio de la Plata and its tricky name. When Elaine says "technically", in fact it is legal - technically, and not geographical - technically. The "legal" limit is the line Punta del Este (Uruguay) to Punta Rasa (the outer limit of Samborombon Bay in Argentina). However, the geographical limit is more under discusion and is more probably in the line Montevideo-Punta Lara. The origin of the legal limit is a historical agreement between Uruguay and Argentina, in the times when the territorial waters were at 3 miles from the coast in the stuaries. Argentina and Uruguay declared it a river and settled the limit at Punta del Este so they could consider the whole extension from Buenos Aires to Punta del Este as "internal waters". When the accepted territorial waters extended to 200 miles, the line helped to pull the jurisdiction of both countries into the ocean, since it is considered as if it were part of the coast, and the 200 miles are counted departing from that line. But all that is arbitrary and not based on Geographical considerations. Now, what about Geography? The Spanish first call it Mar Dulce (Fresh water sea), next Rio de Solís (after the name of the discoverer), and finaly Rio de la Plata (the last name was a marketing operation to convince reluctant conolinists to come to a land that had no silver at all, International Living is no new concept at all!). The name is completely tricky: no silver and no river. Geographicaly it's not even a River. For years it was considered a stuary, cause it's water regime is more like a stuary. In the last years more in depth studies made the new Geographers to think it is really a Delta in an early stage; or the slow extention of the Paraná Delta, which in fact is growing inch by inch each day. However, even if it really ends in Montevideo, depending on the amount of fresh water carried by the Uruguay, Parana and Paraguay rivers, and of the direction of the wind that may in turn block the exit to the ocean or speed it up; the brownish or clear waters may fluctuate from Montevideo to Punta del Este and even beyond into the Ocean. Y don't have statistics at all but I would say from personal ovservation that montevideo has 20-30% more or less "clear" water days during the year, while Punta del Este may have more than 90% and Piriapolis (the area in which this development is located) may be around 90%. Maybe people residing in the Piriapolis area can have a better idea. So, back to Jim's question, is it river or ocean? Legally a River, geographically the ocean, with a 90% oceanic.

Thank author of this post/comment"What would you call a house in Piarapolis"

If you have a house in Piaraopolis would it be corrected to say you have:

1) An ocean view

2) A river view

3) Other: __________________

In "Uruguayan" there is a subtle difference between "mar" (sea) and "océano" (ocean). A Uruguayan would never say that in Piriapolis you have a "river view" and probably would neither say that you have an "ocean" view. It would certainly say you have a "sea view". Even in Montevideo, many Montevideans will call it a "sea view". However, Argentineans would always say "river view" when refering to the official Rio de la Plata, even in Piriápolis. This is derived from the different "experiences" of the Rio de la Plata in the two capitals. Buenos Aires always see their waters capuchino brown. And the "sea" or the "ocean" in their minds is far away. They are much more linked to the interior rivers and see the Rio de la Plata as their last portion. Montevideo has a mixed water view; and more than that, it has much more links with the outer ocean than with the internal rivers. In our minds the sea is just there, when the access channel to the port ends.

For the nonspellers: Urugauy and Monte Video is Montevideo (monte-vid-day-o), real estate agents are "Inmobiliaria", and of course Uruguay is not spelled Uraguay. 3299581318
