| Whats available in Montevideo?I'm moving to Uruguay in a few weeks and I'm trying to figure out what to pack...I've never been to South America before so I'm sorry if this question seems a bit stupid but what type of cosmetics are of poor quality or not available in Montevideo? Is good make-up easy to find? Can you buy well known brands for skincare products? Thanks for your help! |
| When you said your moving does it mean your staying in Montevideo for long, I mean for good? Well if that is the case i suggest that you forget all the brands you've used to patronize and switch to what is available in Montevideo market. I find it hard the obtain lists of brands of cosmetic products in Montevideo, however you can always depend on online stores for the brand that you wish to buy. |

| Thats a good idea...Tienda Inglesa has a pretty good range of stuff but Elina is right - forget what you're used to! Think back to the days when you could only buy cosmetics in pharmacies and thats what you've got. There's no Boots or Sephora or any of those big stores that sell only cosmetics and toiletries. There are some small perfumerias etc but prices are very high and they won't stock many brands you'll recognize. San Roque seems to be the place to buy brands you'll recognize but everything is imported so it is very expensive. I'm not so sure ordering online will work either because a) I never receive packages mailed to me, maybe I just have bad luck and b) you might have to pay import taxes at customs.... |
