Bed and Breakfast in Atlantida?

Thank author of this post/commentI am looking for a family run bed and breakfast near Atlantida. A place that has a nice discount for monthly stays. Any suggestions?

Hi Linda,

I may be looking for a place in Atlantida too. Have you been there before? What is it like as a place to take a holiday? Is it very quiet? I am trying to decide between there and Piriapolis for a week's holiday with a friend.

I was sent this link with many places to stay (hotels, cabins etc), but I'd like to know what some of the places are like before I book. Does anyone live in or near Atlantida that has any recommendations?

Atlantida is really a good place from Uruguay. There are good hotels there where you can stay. I am not too familiar with the Bed and Breakfast there actually because I would love to go to the different restaurants in Atlantida. The last time that I’ve been there was really fun. I hope to be back there.

I agree with you Marynor, I heard that Atlantida is really a good place to stay although I haven't been there but my mother used to work in one of the best hotels there. And she used to tell me how clean and well developed the place was. She also told me it was the perfect place to have bed and breakfast. Summer this year, my mom will definitely bring me there as what she have told me.

Its quite amazing how many of our different posters seem to have very similar Andorra IP address numbers :-)

Perhaps our flatish landscapes appeal to those who dwell so high up in the mountains.

There are a lot of foreign tourists would likely to visit Atlantida most especially in the best season of summer. I am pleased to go there last summer. I have gone to various attractions at Atlántida, but the best things I like about it are the friendly people who are so accommodation. The hotel provides excellent amenities and facilities. I am sure that Atlantida will grow more and become more popular for many tourists.

at least not advertised under that concept because Uruguayan laws and regulations make offering the service a nightmare for potential providers. Even hotels, here, tend to have separate restaurants - on premises but without direct link to the provision of beds. So, your best bet in Uruguay is to select accommodations near to a breakfast spot or to take with you to your room the names and numbers of food servers with "cadetes" that is delivery personnel. Why is this true? Who knows? For me, it's just one more of the quirks that makes Uruguay unique and charming..

Do you think it would be the same for a retreat center where many people gather together to eat in a dining hall -- food is prepared in the kitchen and eaten in the dining room but not served in the sleeping areas?

There are a few of us who have been thinking that with all the land available in Uruguay, it might be a pleasant thing for spiritual development and enjoyment of the land, to build a retreat center out of a chacra that has some places suitable for using in this way.

We have been looking online at land outside of Atlantida, Punta del Este, and Canelones Dept.

Anyone have some solid information on such a thing?

Thank author of this post/comment"There are a number of retreat centers/private"

convention faciliteis alread in service in Uruguay, one at least in Paso Severino, Florida, another in Piriapolis, a third along the Interbalnearia a bit this (MVD) side of Atlantida. None permit the intevention of retreatists in the cocinas which are regulated by Uruguayan food service rules. There are probably dozens more; I only know about the three from having attended events held in them.

Thank author of this post/comment"Hostels"

Hostels seem to be the same as a Bed and Breakfast but with shared rooms and a poorly reputation. However, there seem to be plenty of those in Montevideo.

With all the little food places around that deliver, someone could probably make a bed and breakfast with an "external kitchen".

Thank author of this post/comment"Thanks!"

Now that's an interesting and creative way to handle it! With all the good eating places we've been hearing about, that seems like a better way to handle it than fixing it yourself anyway. And people can get up on their own time frame and not have to be at your dining room table at "x" hour of the morning. Thanks for the response.

We are also looking (for now online) at real estate that have more than one dwelling place - each with it's own kitchen. There are many ideas still rattling around in our heads!
