Stained Glass Supplier

Considering an activity to do while in retirement, I am thinking of starting a home business in stained glass products from tourist trinkets to window designs. I have done stained glass before and although I haven't picked up a glass cutter in about 15 years, it isn't rocket science.

Can someone look in a phone book and let me know if there is a stained glass supplier in Montevideo or elsewhere in Uruguay? I couldn't find anything in the phone book. Also, does anyone know if there is a market for stained glass products? (Do you see those products anywhere?)

If I came over on a retirement visa, I am not allowed to work, but if I had a home artist business, can I sell my finished work through a third party?

Of course, if I chose to make a large deposit in a bank, I believe I read somewhere that I could get a residence visa and work all I want. This is correct, yes?

I have never seen stained glass stuff for sale.. or stained glass... but then I've never really been looking for it.

If you can figure out (or someone) can help us here with the correct Spanish words (for Uruguay) for Stained Glass... try a google search and include, "site:.uy" in the search (without the "'s) and then you'll see just the .uy sites.

This page in Spanish referes to it as painted. I am told you get the materials in Cuidad Vieja or a mercado de los artesanos.

A Mercado de los Artesanos in downtown Montevideo...

I am 12, 800 or so miles from Montevideo.... but when I return at the end of the month I'll stop by there and see what they have.

Thank you Lee, you have been so helpful to me and others as well. If you do get to that side of town, see if they have more than just stained glass, but other supplies like 50/50% lead/zink solder, copper foil, cutter heads, etc. Thanks again so very much.
