| Art in Uruguay Hi there guys. I am very much interested in learning more about the art in the country of Uruguay. I am conducting a research about this matter and so it would be great if anybody here would post here some good details regarding the art and the famous artists in the said country. Any noted art works? What are the best paintings ever painted in this country? Thanks a lot. |

Uruguay has a very active art community, and a strong art tradition both in painting and sculpture.There are lots of museums (which are usually state-owned and free) and art galleries. For a reasonably comprehensive panorama of the art in Uruguay (past and present) I suggest you visit the website of the Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales (MNAV). If you are interested in a particular period or style let me know and I'll try to find more specific info. |

So, yeah there are famous Uruguayan artists, but there are others who have not yet had extensive or internatioanl market success whose works are every bit as good. What is the climate like for expat artists? Are they accepted? Do most people only like and patronize art by Uruguayan artists? Is art well-supported? Anywhere in particular? We are both artists and would love to make our relocation destination support us as artists, among other things. |
